USAC RACEAID
The USAC #RACEAID program is a fresh brand relaunch of the USAC Benevolent Foundation, which was started in 1959 to assist the USAC racing family. With the expansion of USAC into Road Racing, Off Road, Rally, Powersports & Youth Racing, the new initiative is aimed at expanding awareness of the aid program for all of our racing community.
Our Mission
Established in 1959, the United States Auto Club (USAC) Benevolent Foundation's (now known as USAC RACEAID) mission is to provide financial assistance to injured or needy USAC members and their families.
Why We Are Needed
Advancements in technology and safety have made auto racing much safer than it was in the past. In addition, USAC’s insurance is arguably the best offered in the sport, even in catastrophic situations. However, our long history tells us that there will still be accidents, some of which can be devastating, resulting in death or long-term injuries. The immediate costs associated with these accidents are compounded by ongoing costs that can be staggering for the families involved. Injuries sustained in a crash often require extensive medical care which can be ongoing for years after the accident. In addition, some injuries require individuals to retire from the sport. Loss of employment can make it difficult to meet the daily living expenses for themselves and their families. And, of course, sometimes the unthinkable happens and a driver will die in a crash, leaving family members without a breadwinner to provide for them.
What We Do
In all these cases, the USAC RaceAid is there. We step in and financially assist race drivers, race officials, race organizers, and mechanics who sustain injury and need assistance. We also provide support to surviving family members with immediate and ongoing expenses. Over the years, the Foundation has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to help members and their families in times of need. For example, we were able to take care of a paralyzed driver for over 30 years until cancer eventually took his life. In another case, we were able to pay off a modest mortgage for the family of another paralyzed driver after he passed away. There have been numerous other situations where the Foundation was called on and assistance was granted.
